w-h-o-o w-h-o-o-o

I think that owls are a hoot.
We have a few that live in the woods that we hear at night.
We also have a few that live in the house.

This one the littlest thinks is made of gold...

This one wears a hat and is on a leash.

"Owly" lives in bigs bed.
He is made of a sweater, old shirt, and wash cloth.
Hoot lives in the fort.
He is made of an old sweater as well, (and scrap fabric.)

These two live in the playroom downstairs.
They were super easy to paint on the wall.

a trundle bed for that special stuffy

When you have kids, stuffed animals are a part of the deal.
Some just take up space, and others are prized.
Monkey happens to be pretty special.

He started out in a basket bed that was always in the way.
He now has his own trundle made out of a drawer.
The pillow and blanket stay all day,
but in the morning monkey gets up,
and the drawer is shut and out of the way!

machine sewn letter

It's never too late to send a love letter, but you can
easily write any kind of letter with your sewing machine and some scrap fabric.  I used a part
of my husbands old work shirt.  Simply cut your "paper" to size and sew blue lines horizontally
all the way down the paper.  Sew one red line vertically down the left side of the paper and
decide what you want to write.  I just winged it and didn't sketch it first, but you can do that as well
to space everything out before you begin to sew.

what we've been up to

We have been busy mama's getting ready for our first occasional sale at
Mama's Happy!
Thursday March 10-Sunday March 13

This is where you can find them...

Mark your calendars.
On Wednesday March 9th they have a Ladies' Night out to preview the sale.

This is just a taste of what we (gillyflower) will have there...

I apologize for all of our bad lighting/night time photography... sometimes that is the only time we have to get it done:)

garden party dress

Maybe it's that I am eager for spring to come...
I love that the pattern in the fabric resembles a growing garden.
Can you guess what the bottom of this dress is made from?

It is a scarf!

Not like the scarves we wear today.
This is of the older variety.
Perfect for the bottom of a toddler's summer dress.
The bottom of the existing cotton dress is all still there,
both in the front and back.
The scarf only covers the front because I'm not sure that it would hold up well otherwise.

not your grandmas doily

on a toddler's outfit made from a woman's cardigan...the pants are the sleeves

doily on the back of a men's flannel made into toddler dress

on a pillow made of burlap

on a girls dress made from a woman's skirt and belt

on women's skirts

as a rug in a dollhouse

We love our doilies,
maybe not in the traditional way.
There are so many fun and unexpected ways to use them!
